The XB-70 Valkyrie was the prototype of a nuclear-armed, supersonic strategic bomber designed in the late 1950s by North American Aviation for the USAF. This six-engined marvel was capable of flying for thousands of miles at 70.000 feet with a cruise speed of Mach 3, and being therefore almost impossible to intercept from enemy aircraft.
After the introduction of the first surface-to-air missiles, and with the advent of intercontinental ballistic missiles, the XB-70 project was abandoned with only two prototypes built and a few test flights.
This MOC is a detailed scale model of the XB-70 Valkyrie, designed to be both displayed and also playable, and it has many features:
– Retractable landing gear
– Openable weapons bay
– Folding wing tips
– Moving elevons and rudders
– Moving canard surfaces
The model also includes a support stand to show it in your desk or in your collection.
