The SR-72, colloquially referred to as “Son of Blackbird”, is an American UAV concept intended for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) proposed privately in 2013 as a successor to the retired SR-71 Blackbird. In 2018, company executives said an SR-72 test vehicle could fly by 2025 and enter service in the 2030s.
This 1/35 SR-72 model is inspired by the US UAV drone and the movie “Top Gun: Maverick”. The model is beautifully reproduced in many details: the openable cockpit, the retractable landing gear, the engines with variable inlets, and the moving aerodynamic parts.
This MOC is largely derived from the Darkstar model which I designed in 2023, and was improved and enriched in details and stickers by the excellent work of Mocsage, which sell this MOC as a special edition with dedicated box!
