The RMS Queen Mary 2the last ocean liner left, the descendant of the greatest passenger ships ever built such as the Queen Mary, the Queen Elizabeth, the Normandie and the Queen Elizabeth 2, not to mention the beautiful Italian liners such as the Rex or the Andrea Doria; the Queen Mary 2 is the result of over a century of transatlantic crossing experience and it is a masterpiece of naval engineering.
Built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, the same yard that realized some of the Cunard‘s former rivals such as the SS Normandie and the SS France, the Queen Mary 2 construction started on 4 July 2002 and it was launched on 21 March 2003, thus beginning its service on 12 January 2004.
The Queen Mary 2 is a very special and unique ship, different from the other contemporary passenger ships, in fact it has both all the features and amenities of a typical cruise ship (such as pools, bars, restaurants, a casino, a ballroom, a theatre and even the first planetarium at sea) and also the traits of a classic ocean liner: a high draft, a higher low promenade deck, a strong and heavy hull and a reinforced and more slender bow, four stabilisers fins, four engines that can push the ship at a maximum speed of 30 knots (56 km/h) and the gradually descending stern decks.

This ship definitely deserved a brick model!

This MOC is a 1:375 scale model of the Queen Mary 2, it has 5910 parts and it is 36,8 inches (93,5 cm) long; it is a detailed replica of the ship with some interesting features such as the movable stabilisers fins and the openable glass roof on the upper deck lido pool.
