“Grandiosa” is an Italian word which means “great”, “magnificent”, “majestic”; all these adjectives perfectly describe the MSC Grandiosa, one of the largest and most beautiful cruise ships in the World.
Built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France, MSC Grandiosa is the lead vessel of the MSC cruise’s Meraviglia Plus-class, and its size is as big as its name suggest: she has a lenght of 331 mt (1.087 ft), a beam of 43 mt (141 ft), and measures 181.541 gross tonnage.
She is also the first cruise ship in MSC’s fleet equipped with a selective catalytic reduction system and an exhaust gas cleaning system that significantly reduce the ship’s nitrogen oxide and sulfur emissions.

This MOC is a 1:375 scale model of the ship, being part of my 1:375 scale big cruise ships series. As for the other models in this series, like MSC Seashore and Carnival Celebration, I designed this model with a strong internal structure supporting the hull and superstructure sections, and detailed upper decks with all the features of the real ship: pools, slides etc. The most enjoing part of the designing was the making of the beautiful and unique MSC funnels.
